Barcelona’s project serves as the perfect example to Europe that big-money signings are not a necessity to succeed. After all, the Catalans have heavily relied on their academy and are now reaping the rewards of their patience.
From Lamine Yamal to Pau Cubarsi, the team is studded with young names to the point where Gavi and Pedri appear to be veterans when they themselves are in their early twenties.
The team’s faith in young talents, needless to say, is heavily encouraging, especially for other prodigies who abandoned their dreams early or fear a lack of opportunities.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo in a recent interview, former Celta Vigo wonderkid Gabri Veiga shared his thoughts on Barcelona’s new La Masia generation and the young team that is breaking records.
“The truth is that I really enjoy watching Barcelona games. In my free time I follow the Spanish league a lot,” he said.
“This season it has been a pleasure to watch them play. I think it is special that a club that works so well with its young players is now reaping the benefits,” he added.

He then spoke on the qualities required to succeed at Barcelona and the potential that he saw in Hansi Flick’s side.
“I always say that to play for Barcelona, you have to be special. And they are showing that they are capable of playing there and performing at a high level, even in the Champions League.”
“As a Spaniard and a fan of good football, I am very happy for them and I hope they continue to perform as well as they know how,” he added, revealing the joy factor in watching Barcelona play.
Finally, he was asked about potentially being approached by Barcelona to sign for the club in the future and what his decision would be in such a hypothetical scenario.
“Well, in the end, I am a big fan of good football, a big fan of Barcelona, a big fan of Madrid, and I don’t have any preferences.”
“Obviously my team will always be Celta, but I am someone who loves football and always dreams of playing in great teams with the best players. It’s difficult to answer, but hopefully,” he added.
