Marcus Thuram was outstanding in Inter Milan’s hard-fought 2-0 home victory against Serie A newcomers Como last night.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the French superstar warranted the highest ranking among the Nerazzurri players.
Despite entering the contest as odds-on favorites, Inter struggled to deal with Como’s deep defensive block, especially in the first half.
Indeed, Simone Inzaghi’s side threatened Pepe Reina’s goal only twice before halftime.
Federico Dimarco tested the Spanish veteran late in the first half after Denzel Dumfries skied the ball into the stands.
However, Inter failed to live up to the billing.
Everything changed after the break.
Carlos Augusto notched a header in the 48th minute to set the tone for Inter’s fourth consecutive league win.
But Inzaghi’s men failed to kill the game off with an all-important second goal until injury time.
Thuram slammed home a rocket missile from an acute angle to cap off another scintillating performance.
Although he didn’t have a clear sight of goal before scoring, the 27-year-old reigned supreme all game.
It was an exhibition of class and skill.
He was untouchable in possession despite being constantly pressured by several Como defenders.
Unfortunately, Thuram’s attacking companion, Lautaro Martinez, wasn’t equal to the task.
