Marcus Thuram is unlikely to be fit to start Wendesday’s Champions League clash between Barcelona and Inter Milan, with Marko Arnautovic the favourite.

Inter Milan face Barcelona in the first leg of a semifinal tie in the Champions League this week.

It will be a huge match, decisive for both teams’ seasons.

And for Inter, there will certainly be the desire to play as strong a team as possible.

However, there has been one major injury doubt for the Nerazzurri in particular ahead of Wednesday’s match.

Marcus Thuram has been out since Inter’s last match in the Champions League. He suffered some muscular fatigue in the 2-2 second leg draw against Bayern Munich.

Thuram has missed losses to Bologna in Serie A and Bologna in the Coppa Italia.

Marcus Thuram will also miss at least one more match for Inter.

The Frenchman will be out for tomorrow’s Serie A match against Roma.

However, the hope for Inter is that Thuram can be back in the squad for Wednesday’s showdown with Barcelona.

That does not mean, though, that the 27-year-old would necessarily be ready to start against the Blaugranas.

And indeed, according to the Corriere, the prospects of Thuram starting on Wednesday currently look to be slim. The timeline would be difficult for him to be ready to come straight back into the lineup.

Therefore, Simone Inzaghi will have to start a different striker alongside Lautaro Martinez.

Joaquin Correa would not be a possibility – as the Argentine is not in Inter’s Champions League squad.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Taremi has been in dreadful form, culminating in his performance against AC Milan this past week.
