Brentford Women were knocked out of the League Cup after a 2-0 defeat against Fulham Women at Motspur Park.

Karleigh Osborne's side worked hard and defended well for large parts of the tie but were ultimately defeated by their west London rivals.

Brentford had to soak up a lot of pressure in the early moments of the game as the home side controlled possession.

Ella Tagliavini hit the crossbar for the hosts from a corner under pressure from goalkeeper Sophie Boycott, who did enough to put her off.

The hosts took the lead with their first attacking passage of play in the second period as Stella Morgan was in the right place to finish.

Despite the deadlock being broken, chances remained few and far between with both defences being largely on top.

Neither side were creating chances as both defences were resolute throughout the contest.

Second-half substitute Alissa Down had a shot which deflected into the hands of the keeper.

It was 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining as Carolin Engelhard's attempted clearance following a free-kick ended up in her own net.
