According to Foot Mercato, Galatasaray and Monaco are both interested in signing Al-Ahly centre back Mohamed Abdelmonem (25) in the summer transfer window. The Egyptian international defender is keen to make the switch to Europe this summer.

Abdelmonem is regarded as one of the best defenders on the African continent and is a stalwart for Al-Ahly both in the African Champions League and Egyptian domestic top-flight. His impressive performances for his club have also seen him become a regular for his country too – making 25 appearances for the Pharaohs at the time of writing.

With another potential ACL title to add to his tally, as Al-Ahly prepare to face Tunis in the final, Abdelmonem has his sights set on pastures new and is attracting interest from clubs in Europe. Monaco will have to beat Galatasaray if they are to win the race to sign the Egyptian defender and welcome him to the Stade Louis II.
