Gian Piero Gasperini appears to be Roma’s top candidate as Claudio Ranieri’s successor by the end of the season.
The Italian technician is unlikely to remain in Bergamo and Atalanta are not expected to stand in the way of his departure.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Ranieri and Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi have personally reached out to Gasperini in recent weeks.
Gasperini is reportedly flattered by the interest and has already received guarantees from the Giallorossi regarding the construction of the team, with the club ready to provide him with players who are suitable for his work ethic.
However, it is too early to talk about a single candidacy, as several names have been considered and/or sought.
The newspaper mentions Ajax’s Farioli as well as Bologna’s Vincenzo Italiano as possible candidates in the mix.
