Gennaro Gattuso and José Mourinho were forced to separate their players after a brawl ended a ‘friendly’ encounter between their teams, HNK Hajduk Split and Fenerbahce.

The match between Gattuso’s Hajduk Split and Mourinho’s Fenerbahce on Thursday wasn’t really a friendly as the two coaches had to enter the pitch after the final whistle to calm their players down during a brawl.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows Gattuso pushing away a couple of his footballers who had gone face-to-face with a Fenerbahce player.

At the same time, Mourinho raised his arms, urging his players to calm down.

Another video, shot during the warmup, showed a friendly chat between Mourinho and Gattuso on the pitch.

In June, Gattuso, a former Milan and Napoli coach, was appointed by Croatian side Hajduk Split, while Mourinho recently signed a two-year contract with Fenerbahce.

Roma sacked the Special One in January 2024.
