La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Milan are interested in Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup for the January transfer window as Paulo Fonseca needs to boost his options in the middle of the park.

Ismael Bennacer’s injury during the international break in September has forced Milan to consider signing a new central midfielder in the January transfer window and according to the latest Gazzetta report, Genoa’s Frendrup is among the Rossoneri options.

The report claims that Milan will be waiting for updates on the Bennacer front, but if the Algeria international is unable to recover for the second part of the season, the Diavoli will move for a replacement.

According to the report, Genoa’s asking price for Frendrup is around €20m, but Rossoblu’s financial issues may push the price down.

Miami-based firm 777 Partners, which owned a majority stake in the Grifone, was declared bankrupt earlier this week. This means one of their main creditors, A-Cap, will likely take over at the club and manage the winter transfer window.
