GdS: Terracciano’s confidence restored as starting spot is ready for Monza-Milan

Filippo Terracciano is expected to play from the first minute in AC Milan’s game against Monza tonight, making his fourth game from start. As a report highlights, his confidence has been restored after a tough start.

Terracciano joined Milan during the January transfer window last season and made his debut against Bologna shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, he caused a penalty and the away side scored the important 2-2 goal, after which he didn’t get many chances under Stefano Pioli.

At the start of this season, however, the story has been different with four games from start. He wasn’t brilliant in the Monza pre-season clash, but he has done okay since and the confidence has certainly been growing. As such, he’s expected to start tonight.

As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport, Fonseca prefers the 21-year-old to Davide Calabria as the latter hasn’t played since recovering from injury. Emerson Royal, meanwhile, needs rest ahead of the big game against Real Madrid.

Having played in a more attacking-minded role for Verona, it took some time for Terracciano to get used to Pioli’s football, first of all, and then Fonseca’s. The situation has improved, though, and approaches from Como, Bologna and Fiorentina were even turned down in the summer.

Another curiosity regarding tonight’s game is that Terracciano’s dad, Antonio, used to play for Verona and then finished his career as an assistant coach for Monza. Furthermore, Filippo has always said that Alessandro Nesta (coach of Monza) and Paolo Maldini (whose son will start tonight) are his idols.
