Manuel Neuer has arguably been the best goalkeeper of the last 15 years, and despite injury setbacks, he is still competing at the highest level as he turns 39.
The Germany and Bayern Munich legend has won nearly everything there is to win in the sport, with two Champions League in 2013 and 2020 and the 2014 World Cup accompanying a dizzying number of domestic honours.
As well as being an incredible presence inside the box, the former Schalke man has become renowned as a very unorthodox sweeper keeper, one never afraid to take a risk or show off his skills.
For near-any other keeper, this would spread panic in the defence, but Neuer has always been a class apart in many regards.
Having signed a new one-year deal with Bayern, he will play into his 40s, but his real wish for his birthday this year will be a full recovery from a troublesome calf injury that may stop him from playing in the Champions League quarter final against Inter.
