The year may have only been 13 hours old but it was soon clear that his goal might be the best we see all year.
It came at Brighton as Chelsea travelled to the south coast with dreams of breaking into the top four.
But their ambition of a Champions League place briefly at the buffers at the Amex as Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored his first ever goal in the Premier League â a goal heâll likely never better.
The Iranian netted this stunning overhead kick to give his side a share of the points and kick off a brilliant 12 months of football, culminating in the summerâs European ChampionshâŠoh.
Still, cracking goal though.
