Paul Merson was every single one of us Chelsea fans last night after watching The Blues go down 3-1 to Manchester City last night.

Merson, who is also a Chelsea fan himself despite playing most of his career for Arsenal, actually predicted a Chelsea win prior to the game, and you can understand why.

City have not been good this season at all and had a real slump, even though they have been picking up better results in recent games. Their high defensive line should have played into Chelsea’s hands with the pace of our attackers and Nicolas Jackson in behind. But Jackson, along with many other Chelsea players last night, had an absolute shocker of a game.

But there was no worse performer on the pitch that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who is absolute litter, let’s not beat around the bush anymore. Not one single Chelsea fan is buying the embarrassing comments from Enzo Maresca oddly protecting the stopper, and nobody is buying that the club are continuing to back him by not signing a new goalkeeper this window.

Merson took to X last night to post his quite simple reaction and message to the club. He wants them to replace Sanchez as soon as possible. Don’t we all mate? Don’t we all.

Merson posted:

‘Got to get a top GK to go to the level Chelsea want to go …top GK’s win you points not lose you points.’

And once again, Merson is absolutely spot on here with this simple but to the point post.

I find it unfathomable that Chelsea have not replaced Sanchez in goal. Remember last season when Mauricio Pochettino dropped him as number one for Djordje Petrovic!? Yet somehow he remains our number one this season. Utter madness.
