The left-back has been the subject of interest from the club which Celtic faced in this year’s UEFA Champions League group phase and has been unable to reach an agreement with the club on a new contact with improved terms, ultimately leading to a stalemate.
If these reports are accurate, the Scotland international will join Fabio Cannavaro’s side in the near future, with the Hoops having him for the last few months of his contract. There was a mixed bag of reactions when Taylor’s representatives could not reach agreement with the Celtic hierarchy, with many willing to accept that Taylor has run his course at Celtic Park with the return of Kieran Tierney and those who are sad that we are losing a valuable squad member.

Jeffrey Schlupp has come in on loan from Crystal Palace during the winter window and will be able to push Taylor for a place in the team these next few months ahead. With the chance of a glamour match with Bayern Munich in the European play-offs, both men won’t want to miss out and should mean the levels in training are pushed up a notch with the experienced defender’s arrival.
Meanwhile, Sportske novoste publication have revealed that a deal has now been agreed between Taylor and our Champions League foes and he should depart this May. The report states:
“And it looks like one summer transfer has been resolved. Although the club told us that not everything has been finalized yet, left-back Greg Taylor (27) is set to arrive at the Blues in the summer.

In Taylor’s case, the flirtation with Dinamo also lasted a long time, Celtic also received offers from other clubs, but we learn that Dinamo was the most specific and the Scottish international should come to Maksimir. He left a significant mark at Celtic, making more than 200 appearances over six seasons and winning ten trophies, including four Scottish championship titles.”
It’s a pity that Celtic could not reach an agreement with Greg Taylor, a player who has indeed continued greatly to Celtic success over the past six seasons and mastered the inverted full-back role better than anyone else.
