US men's national team head coach Gregg Berhalter has confirmed Ethan Horvath will start in goal for the American side after Matt Turner left the camp to return to England and Nottingham Forest.

Turner, coming off a clean sheet in the US' 3-0 triumph over Uzbekistan, has returned to England as he and his partner are expecting their second child together. Should everything go to plan, Turner should be in line to feature for Forest in their Premier League clash with Burnley on September 18.

"It was a clear message from the boss back home that I needed to make sure that if I was going to come, that I was going to make it worth it," Turner said to US Soccer after the win. "A clean sheet and a win is all I could ask for. Now, I am focused completely on the safe delivery of our baby girl into the world."

Horvath, who also plays for Forest, is set to start in between the sticks for the Stars and Stripes and make his ninth appearance at the international level. The 28-year-old has plenty of experience around Europe with the likes of Molde, Club Brugge and newly promoted Premier League side Luton Town as he helped them gain promotion last campaign.

"Ethan's going to play in goal tomorrow," said Berhalter on Monday. "That's pretty clear. We're going to mix up some players but it will be a very, very similar lineup to what you saw last time.

"We also have some young MLS goalies that are doing well," Berhalter added. "It's about performance, and Matt, I think, is a serious enough guy that he realizes he is in a good position now but it's about him performing week in and week out with this club and doing the best he can and then also evaluating the competition."

Horvath and the USMNT take on Oman in an international friendly at Allianz Field on September 12, with Berhalter hoping for a much-improved showing before his players return to their respective clubs.
