Borussia Dortmund’s injury worries continue to grow. After Nico Schlotterbeck, Thomas Meunier and Julien Duranville, Gregor Kobel is the latest player to be sidelined for the club.
As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Kobel suffered a slight torn muscle fibre in Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against Manchester United, which resulted in the Swiss goalkeeper being replaced after 45 minutes, despite plans to play the full 90. Kobel will now miss the games against Chelsea and Ajax and is currently questionable as to whether or not he will play against TSV Schott Mainz in the DFB Pokal.
Per the report, Kobel’s downtime is expected to be between seven and ten days but he should be available for the opening Bundesliga game against FC Köln on August 19. However, Kobel’s injury will be an early worry for BVB given the player struggled several times with muscular injuries last season.
BVB are expected to find out a further diagnosis on Schlotterbeck after undergoing an MRI scan on his knee with results expected shortly. Meunier has not yet been diagnosed but with Duranville, RN suggest that it’s a torn muscle fibre for the young Belgian.
