FC Barcelona have already wrapped up the La Liga title, and after having won the Copa del Rey and been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the semi-final stage, they do not have any other titles left to fight for this season.
However, the league is still not over, and there are two matchdays left to be played. For the 37th matchday, the Catalans will face Villarreal tomorrow night, as all the teams will play the final two matches of the league at the same time.
After celebrating the title win, Hansi Flick addressed the press ahead of this game. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German coach took this moment to talk about the team’s season, areas for improvement, and the title celebrations.
The main highlights from his presser are as follows:
Hansi Flick started the presser by previewing the upcoming game against Villarreal:
“We’ve played against many good teams this season. Villarreal is having a great end to the season. It’s nice to see them play football. It will be a tough match at home, but we want to win to celebrate with our fans at the stadium. We want to finish the league as champions. We haven’t lost at home in 2025, and we want to keep it that way.”
The Blaugrana coach expressed his surprise at the celebrations that took place on the streets:
“It was impressive. When you see the faces of the people, with the passion they have for the club, it’s very beautiful to see. If we do this every year, it wouldn’t be bad. Maybe we can do it again next year. It was incredible to see people out on the streets celebrating.”
When asked who was the MVP of the celebrations, the German coach named one player:
“I don’t know… Cubarsí took the mic and did a great job yesterday.”
Hansi Flick was clear that those who celebrated would also be available to play against Villarreal in this game:
“We have to make some changes. We’ll wait until tomorrow. There was the celebration. Some also partied last night. If they can go out partying, they can play. No excuses.”
Talking about these celebrations, the Barcelona trainer revealed how he enjoyed this time with his family:
“How do you know that? My family is always with me. Some of them are in Germany and we did video calls. I have plenty of space on my phone despite the photos and videos. This morning I watched some with my grandson. It’s very nice to see.”
The German tactician praised Andreas Christensen after his outing against Espanyol:
“He’s doing well. He showed it in the matches. He’s improved a lot and he’s still not at his best. He’s on the right path.”

Flick admitted that he can field a starting eleven of academy graduates:
“We’ve talked about it, but we haven’t decided yet. It’s an option. We have to wait until tomorrow to decide.”
Although he was ready to wait, the Blaugrana manager also showed his keenness to return to Camp Nou:
“We haven’t talked about Camp Nou yet. We have to wait. I’ve had a great experience at Montjuïc. I’m looking forward to playing in this new stadium. The holidays are long, and we hope to return.”
The German coach once again avoided talking about his renewal:
“We’re not talking about it. We have time to talk after Bilbao. We’ll talk and decide what we’ll do.”
When asked about his favorite aspect of the team, Hansi Flick highlighted the good atmosphere:
“What I’m most proud of is the atmosphere here. It’s like a family. We wanted to create an environment for the players to give their best, and it worked. They believed in themselves and in what we want to do. Maybe they’re a bit tired today, but they’re enjoying what they’re doing.”
The Barcelona trainer also highlighted some areas for improvement for his team:
“Defense is everyone’s responsibility, but in attack, it’s also important that everyone is well-positioned. I want everyone to know from the start what we want to do. When teams have been together for three or four years, it’s easier. Another important point is the physical aspect. It’s incredible how Pedri and De Jong have played in these last matches.”
Lastly, the German manager revealed the one thing about Barcelona that has surprised him the most:
“I love the passion people have for the club. You always see the connection with the club. I’m very happy about that. It’s a different culture. I also love living in Barcelona.”
Hansi Flick’s comments about a starting eleven of all La Masia graduates would definitely be a great sight and a source of pride for the fans. Hopefully, this idea would be realised in the last two matches left in La Liga.
