John Eustace's side are set to begin their campaign on Friday 9th August when they host Derby County at Ewood Park in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Having only finished 19th in the second-tier standings last season, three points clear of the relegation zone, the Lancashire club will be keen for a strong start against one of the newly promoted sides.

After a slow start to the summer transfer window, business is starting to happen for Blackburn in the market, as they look to bring some much-needed reinforcements into their team.

There is though, still plenty more work that need to be done if those connected with the club are to be confident going into the clash with the Rams.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at two signings Blackburn Rovers should be looking to make before that game on Friday night, right here.

James Hill

It was reported last weekend that a potential loan return to Ewood Park for Bournemouth defender James Hill is under consideration.

The centre-back spent the first half of last season on loan with Rovers, and was an excellent addition before being recalled by the Cherriers in the January transfer window.

As a result, bringing him back to Blackburn for a second spell with the club would no doubt be a popular move among the fanbase.

It would also be a necessary move as well, given Rovers do still look as though they need some extra depth at centre-back, to give Eustace the option to switch between a three and four-man defence, as he likes to do.

Beyond that, Hill also showed during his first spell in Lancashire that he can do a job at right-back, and given they are lacking senior cover and competition for Callum Brittain in that role, this could be an important move in that respect as well.

A return to Ewood Park for Hill, could therefore be a sensible move for Blackburn to make over the coming days.

Bartosz Bialkowski

Following the sale of Leo Wahlstedt earlier this summer, a new goalkeeper has to be high on the priority list for the rest of the summer, and indeed the lead-up to the Derby game.

Their remaining senior option, Aynsley Pears, was himself far from faultless last season either, and so an experienced head does look like it is needed between the posts for the coming campaign.

As a result, a move for Bartosz Bialkowski could prove to be a smart piece of business for Blackburn in the not too distant future.

The Pole is currently a free agent following his departure from Millwall this summer upon the expiration of his contract at The Den.

This could therefore be an affordable deal for Rovers as they look to work on a seemingly limited budget this summer, and at 37-years-old, Bialkowski also brings just the sort of experience the club appear to be looking for this summer.

Bringing in a secure pair of hands before the season begins would also be an encouraging sight for those of a Blackburn persuasion, meaning this may be a signing they need to look into over the next few days.
