Manchester United sent Antony on loan to Real Betis last month for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The loan deal comes without an option to buy, which means Antony is expected to return to United before a call is taken on his future.
Antony’s agent has dropped a major update regarding the future of his client.
He said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Saudi and PL clubs wanted him but Real Betis was the best solution, he’s so happy there.
“There’s NO buy option and he respects Amorim a lot… his future at Man United remains an open story.”
The Brazilian international has quickly made his mark in Spain, dazzling fans with a stellar start to his Betis adventure.
With two goals in just three games and a Man of the Match award on his debut, Antony is already turning heads in La Liga.
United will be glad to see him starring in La Liga but it is unlikely that he will be given another chance at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils signed the trickster from Ajax for a whopping £84 million fee in 2022.
It was a move driven by former head coach Erik ten Hag’s desire to reunite with the winger who had flourished under his guidance at Ajax.
However, Antony struggled to adapt to the relentless intensity and physicality of English football.
There have been many players who have thrived in other leagues but not in the English top flight.
It seems Antony is one of those players, and a permanent departure could ultimately benefit both him and United.
United will hope that the £12m-rated ace continues to impress in Spain, boosting his market value ahead of the crucial summer transfer window.
