Sky Germany and Bild both report that Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Muhammed Damar has extended his contract at the club.
Damar’s future was up in the air as he was attracting interest from Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart due to his performances on loan at 2.Bundesliga side Elversberg.
The 21-year-old’s contract will be valid until 2029 and will not be affected in the event that Hoffenheim get relegated this season, which is a real possibility.
The plan for Damar is that he will be moulded into the replacement for Tom Bischof, who will join Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer. Damar felt the appreciation from Hoffenheim’s management during the process and believes he will best develop at the Kraichgauer.
Despite Hoffenheim splashing the cash and it backfired massively. They have a good core of young players to lead them forward, either in the Bundesliga or the second division. On top of Damar, there is fellow midfielder Umut Tohmuncu, defender Tim Drexler, strikers Max Moerstedt and Fisnik Asllani and Tim Lemperle, who is expected to join the club on a free transfer from 1.FC Köln in the summer.
