We took a look at how Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle made his money

Since the summer of 2023, Huddersfield Town have been owned by American businessmen Kevin M.Nagle, with the 70-year-old taking over from Dean Hoyle after his 14-year spell in charge at the John Smith's Stadium.

It's fair to say that the American was an unknown quantity to the Terriers' fan base when he purchased 100% of the club through his company, Town FC LLC, and while he was unknown when it came to English football circles, he's certainly been a successful businessman in his homeland.

Nagle's first season in charge of Huddersfield couldn't have gone much worse, with the Terriers suffering relegation to League One for the first time since 2012, and the appointments of Darren Moore and Andre Breitenreiter proved unsuccessful, with neither manager having the desired impact.

Now in League One, Nagle will expect his side to be competing for the play-offs at the very minimum as they look to make an immediate return to the Championship.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at just how Nagle made his money and became a multi-billionaire.

Kevin Nagle's source of wealth

First and foremost, it's difficult to find an exact net worth for Nagle, but an article from The Sun describes him as a multi-billionaire, showing that he's not short of cash.

It's reported that the American actually grew up in poverty, but started off in finance at LA-based company EF Hutton, before he co-founded a pharmaceutical firm, called Envision Pharmaceutical Holdings.

He eventually sold Envision Pharmaceutical Holdings for a whopping $1.8billion, but that's not the only place he made his money.

The 70-year-old also owns 'The Nagle Company', a real estate firm with retail, entertainment, offices and residential developments - as well as various venture capital companies, and he also has a track record of making money in sport.

He was a major investor in the Sacramento Kings NBA team, selling his shares for a reported £6.7billion, and is also involved with football across the pond, being the CEO and chairman of Sacramento Republic FC, a side who currently compete in the USL Championship, with Nagle desperate to get them to the MLS.

In 2017, he also invested in the NRG Esports company alongside famous faces like Jennifer Lopez and Shaquille O'Neal, before making his first inroads into the English game by purchasing Huddersfield in 2023.

While his total net worth is unclear, Nagle is a multi-billionaire, and Huddersfield supporters will be hoping that he can use some of that money to take them through the divisions.

Nagle is always active on social media, posting about the Terriers and responding to supporters, helping to make him a popular figure at the club.

While he may be an outsider with no previous connections to the club, he appears keen to help the side back to the Championship at the very minimum after some difficult seasons after just missing out on a Premier League return in 2022.

However, Nagle can be outspoken sometimes on X after poor results, but perhaps that shows how much he cares and how much he wants the club to succeed, which supporters will fully understand.

Being relegated in his first season at the club was far from ideal, but Nagle is keen to put things right this season and ensure the club returns to the Championship.
