After a mixed five-year spell at Hillsborough, Fernando Forestieri sealed his departure from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.

The forward was a divisive figure during his time at Wednesday, and his time at the club started off with a bang.

Forestieri scored 15 goals in 36 games in his first season at Hillsborough, and netted 12 goals in 35 appearances the following season.

But the goals dried up for Forestieri in his final years with the club, scoring 13 goals across his last three seasons with the Owls.

In the summer, Forestieri, upon the expiration of his contract, declined a new deal and left Wednesday having scored 40 goals in 134 games for the Owls.

He would reunite with former club Udinese, penning a two-year deal with the club he left for Watford back in 2013.

So how has Forestieri got on since returning to Italy?

It has been a difficult campaign for Foresteri, who has spent the majority of the campaign unavailable through injury.

He’s only been able to make 10 appearances for Udinese in Serie A, scoring only one goal since returning to the club which came in a 3-1 away win over Lazio in November.

Muscular injuries have sidelined Forestieri for the worst part of three months this season, and he has thus been unable to nail down a place in the side and get regular minutes under his belt.

In summary, two goals have been scored in 12 appearances across all competitions, and the 31-year-old will be keen to get some more games under his belt between now and the end of the campaign.
