Gustavo Hamer is being linked with a move to Everton this summer so Football League World has looked at what he earns at Sheffield United.
Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer is being linked with a move to David Moyes’ Everton side this summer as the Blades gear up for their play-off campaign in the Championship.
Hamer moved to Bramall Lane from Coventry City in the summer of 2023 following United’s automatic promotion to the top-flight alongside Burnley for a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million.
He made 36 appearances in the Premier League and scored four goals as they were relegated last season but has once again been instrumental for the South Yorkshire club as they finish third in the second-tier with Hamer being named the EFL Championship Player of the Year for the 2024/25 campaign.
With the Toffees now reportedly interested in the 27-year-old Brazil-born former Netherlands youth international, Football League World has taken a closer look at his current wage and how that compares to the Everton squad.
According to Capology, Hamer is currently the joint second highest paid player currently on a permanent contract at Bramall Lane, earning an estimated gross weekly salary of £30,000.
That works out at around £1,560,000 over the course of a year.
Rhian Brewster remains the highest paid permanently contracted Sheffield United player on £35,000 with loanees Hamza Choudhury and Ben Brereton also said to be earning that much, whilst another loanee, Rob Holding, also earns £30,000 per week alongside Hamer as well as Anel Ahmedhodzic, Tom Davies and Vinicius Souza.
Hamer’s current deal with the Blades runs out in the summer of 2027, having signed an initial four-year contract when he joined from Coventry.
The lowest paid player this season at Bramall Lane is apparently Scotland youth international Ryan One, who is reportedly earning £1,000 per week following his move from Hamilton Academical in the summer of 2023.
There are seven other players, alongside One, earning less than £10,000 per week at the moment with two loanees, Alfie Gilchrist and Jesurun Rak-Sakyim, as well as winter window signings Jefferson Caceres and Christian Nwachukwu, former Leeds United man Jamie Shackleton and academy graduates Sydie Peck and Ollie Arblaster.
The current highest paid player at Everton, who have recently been taken over by the Friedkin Group ahead of their move from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Docks over the summer, is Abdoulaye Doucoure on £130,000 per week, who is out of contract this summer despite being keen on signing a new deal on Merseyside but yet to do so, once again according to Capology.
17 players earn more than Hamer’s £30,000 per week at Everton with the three players that are said to be on the same wage as Hamer being Asmir Begovic, James Garner and Youssef Chermiti.
The average weekly salary of a Sheffield United reportedly works out to be £17,417 per week, whilst that goes up to an average of £43,000 when comparing with Everton.
Everton have the tenth highest gross weekly player pay roll in the Premier League with £1,419,000. In comparison, Sheffield United’s weekly pay roll is £522,500, which is third in the Championship behind Leeds United and Burnley.
