FLW takes a look at how much the Dutchman was paid during his time at The Den.
Millwall completed a deal to sign Dutch forward Zian Flemming from Fortuna Sittard in the summer of 2022.
The Lions paid £1.7 million to land the attacker, which was a club-record fee at the time, and he lived up to that price-tag during his two-season spell in South London.
He scored 15 goals in the Championship during his debut season at The Den, as Millwall narrowly missed out on a play-off place after a heartbreaking defeat at home against Blackburn Rovers on the final day.
Flemming then netted seven goals and provided five assists in the second tier for the Lions last season, before joining Burnley during the summer transfer window on loan with an obligation to buy for a fee believed to be in excess of £7 million.
The Dutchman left Millwall having scored 23 goals and assisted eight during his 92 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Flemming was never the highest earner in the squad during his time at Millwall, but he was always one of the better paid players at the club.
During the 2022/23 campaign, he was paid £15,000 per week, as per the estimated data available on Capology.com.
Only Benik Afobe and Oliver Burke are said to have earned more than Flemming that season, as they were supposedly paid £16,731 and £18,000 per week respectively.
Last season, Flemming's £15,000 per week wage once again made him the third-highest paid player in the Millwall squad.
Japhet Tanganga and Joe Bryan were the only two players to receive more money than Flemming last term, as they were allegedly paid £25,000 and £32,500 each, respectively, on a weekly basis.
Overall, during his two years at Millwall, Flemming was paid a total of £1.56 million, as per Capology.com, which works out at around £50,000 per goal contribution.
Millwall fans would no doubt have been disappointed when Flemming completed his move to Turf Moor, but the Dutchman's decision could be made to look like a good one between now and the end of the season.
Burnley are in the hunt for an automatic return to the Premier League this season, with Flemming having played his part in their promotion push so far.
The Clarets' success has primarily been built on their outstanding defensive record, so it has been important that the 26-year-old has stepped up with a few big goals so far, including strikes against Norwich City at Carrow Road, Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, and rivals Blackburn at Ewood Park.
According to Capology.com, Flemming is still earning £15,000 per week in wages in Lancashire, but he may hope that his salary will increase if Burnley can win promotion back to the top flight at the end of the season.
Millwall made a significant profit from the sale of Flemming to Burnley, and now that they have invested in their squad following the sale of Romain Esse to Crystal Palace, most supporters will likely no longer feel too aggrieved over the fact that he left the club last summer.
His goal contributions for the Lions meant that he probably did enough to warrant earning £1.56 million during his time at The Den.
