FLW looks at how much money the former Tigers winger earned before his Premier League switch
Jarrod Bowen is currently one of the standout wingers in the Premier League, with the 28-year-old continuing his rapid rise which started at Hull City.
Bowen initially joined the Tigers' academy back in August 2014 when Steve Bruce was in charge of first-team affairs at the MKM Stadium, initially signing a three-year deal after breaking into the first-team picture at non-league Hereford United.
Despite joining the setup in East Yorkshire towards the back end of the club's most successful period, which included two promotions to the top-flight under Bruce as well as a maiden FA Cup Final and subsequent first stint in European football, the Leominster-born man would only begin to make an impression on the experienced boss just prior to his shock departure in July 2016.
He would then begin to feature in Black and Amber more prominently under five more permanent managers after making his senior debut against Exeter City in a 3-1 EFL Cup victory back in August 2016, before going on to rack up 130 more appearances ahead of his departure to West Ham United on Deadline Day in January 2020 for a reported £20m.
With Bowen now one of the leading lights at the London Stadium five years on, FLW looks at how much he earned at the MKM Stadium as he became one of the Championship's most sought-after talents.
According to figures from Capology - a site which breaks down players' estimated wages over the course of their careers - Bowen earned a £1,500 weekly sum during his first season within the first-team fold, which gave him a figure of £78,000 for the season.
It was after Leonid Slutsky's arrival in the summer of 2017 when Bowen fully rose to prominence, netting a well-taken equaliser against Aston Villa in the first game of the season, before finding the net 14 more times under the Russian and Nigel Adkins, despite Hull's overall inconsistencies throughout their first season back in the second tier.
Bowen signed a fresh contract until the summer of 2020 back in September 2017, which saw his weekly salary increase to £6,000 per week and an annual sum of £312,000. However, such figures were still below average in terms of weekly and annual pay in a squad which still included the likes of Abel Hernandez, Michael Dawson and fellow star winger, Kamil Grosicki.
The winger then enjoyed a stunning second season in the Championship, scoring 22 times and registering four assists as Hull put a difficult start to the season behind them to finish 13th, although neither the overall side or Bowen enjoyed a strong end to the campaign which ended any faint hope of the play-offs.
Despite earning a place in the division's Team of the Season, Bowen would still be on the same sum of cash, which was still £25,000 less per week than the aforementioned Polish international, Grosicki.
During his final half-season in East Yorkshire, the wide duo were the main reason behind a relatively strong first half of the campaign under new boss Grant McCann, with Bowen scoring 16 times in 29 appearances prior to his January departure, which was the catalyst behind Hull's staggering drop-off, as the Tigers picked up just six more points and were relegated to League One for the first time since 2005 with 45 points.
Overall, the man who registered 68 goal contributions for the club earned an approximately estimated figure of £858,000, which would take into account a deduction of half a season's worth of wages due to his departure in the winter of 2020.
Since his move to East London, Bowen has continued to shine for the Hammers under David Moyes, Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter, with his most iconic moment being the last-minute strike against Fiorentina in Prague back in June 2023 as the side from the capital won the UEFA Conference League.
The 16-cap England international signed a seven-year contract back in October 2023, and was handed the club captaincy ahead of this season in place of Kurt Zouma.
At present, Bowen is said to be earning £150,000 per week at West Ham, making him the club's highest earner alongside Brazilian midfield maestro, Lucas Paqueta.
