Barcelona and Real Madrid clash in El Clasico today for the final time this season.

The leaders have since suffered the heartbreak of exiting the Champions League at the semi-final stage after a dramatic 4-3 extra-time second-leg loss to Inter Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday night that saw them dumped out 7-6 on aggregate following an all-time classic tie.

However, another win over defending champions Madrid would all but wrap up the title for Hansi Flick’s side, who defeated them 3-2 in a pulsating Copa del Rey final in Seville on April 26 following an extra-time winner from Jules Kounde.

Barca thrashed Madrid 5-2 to lift the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia in January, having also stunned the Bernabeu with a 4-0 rout in LaLiga back in October.

The visitors will be desperate to stop that run and keep the title battle well and truly alive on Sunday in what will surely be a final Clasico in charge for Carlo Ancelotti, who is expected to depart in the coming weeks as Madrid plan to appoint former midfielder Xabi Alonso, whose impending exit from Bayer Leverkusen was announced on Friday.

TV channel: El Clasico is being shown live in the UK on Premier Sports. Coverage gets underway on Premier Sports 1 at 3:10pm BST ahead of a 3:15pm kick-off at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Barcelona’s temporary home while renovation works continue on the Camp Nou.
