Hull City managerial revelation emerges involving Wolves after previous links to 52-year-old | OneFootball

Previous Hull City managerial candidate Pedro Martins previously believed he had a good chance of taking charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers, with this news being revealed by Hull Live following his talks with the Tigers.

The East Yorkshire outfit previously looked set to name Martins as their new boss last month following the dismissal of Shota Arveladze, with owner Acun Ilicali even pictured with the former Olympiacos manager at the MKM Stadium.

However, Turkish businessman Ilicali ended talks between the two parties because he wasn’t willing to meet Martins’ demands, leaving Andy Dawson in charge for more time than he had probably been expecting.

But a new man is in place now, with Liam Rosenior taking charge of his first game last weekend against Millwall and looks set to guide the Tigers through the long international break during the World Cup.

Similar can finally be said for Wolves, with Julen Lopetegui set to take to come in as head coach next week following confirmation of his appointment at Molineux.

Martins is one man that believed he had a real chance of winning the top job at the Premier League side following Bruno Lage’s dismissal – but he now finds himself at Slavisa Jokanovic’s old side Al Gharafa with the Midlands outfit .

The chance to take charge of Hull would have been an excellent one and just as much of an exciting opportunity as a potential move to Molineux, even though Wolves are currently in the division above.

Managing to recruit some talented players in the summer, Martins would have had a lot of options to choose from with the Tigers ensuring they had a decent amount of squad depth.

This has come in handy due to some of the injury troubles they have faced this season – and the number of options the former Olympiacos manager would have had would have given him a great chance of succeeding at the MKM Stadium.

The ingredients are there for the club to be competitive in this division – all he would have needed was the power to make key decisions so he could put his own stamp on the Tigers’ first team.

He has now received a great opportunity to manager Al Gharafa – but you just wonder whether he regrets not making the move to the MKM Stadium following talks with the East Yorkshire side’s owner.

You also have to wonder whether he was distracted by the Wolves job when in talks with Hull – because the former sacked Lage literally days after Arveladze’s departure from the latter.
