After ending the 2023-24 season without any piece of silverware, FC Barcelona emerged as one of the most promising teams in the first few months of the 2024-25 season, and there was a clear improvement in the team’s results following the arrival of Hansi Flick.
There was a minor blip in the team’s performances in the latter months of last year, as the Blaugranes lost their healthy lead at the top of the table and fell to third place by the end of the year.
However, things have improved considerably since the turn of the year, in which they have reduced their deficit at the top of the table to 2 points, and have also won their first trophy of this season, i.e., the Spanish Super Cup.
Meanwhile, they were also one of the best teams in the UEFA Champions League and qualified directly to the Round of 16 after finishing the League Phase in second place.
As a result of these successes, and the way the team is playing in general, both the fanbase and the administration of the Catalan club are quite satisfied with Flick’s work.
In fact, as SPORT has reported, Barcelona President Joan Laporta clearly showed his pride in the team’s performances as he briefly answered a journalist’s question while attending the Extraordinary Assembly of the Royal Spanish Football Federation:
“Our coach and our players are doing very well. And I am proud and very happy about that.”
The Blaugranes have won their last three matches in La Liga, the competition in which they have faced the most complications this season.
Hopefully, they will be able to keep on winning in the coming matches as well, as they do not really have any room for more mistakes in a highly competitive league race involving Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid.
