Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea will miss out on a top five finish as he made his prediction on who will qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea currently occupy fourth place, but after their goalless draw against Brentford they can ill afford any more slip ups, with the Blues only ahead of Newcastle on goal difference having played a game more than the Magpies.
Given Chelsea’s form over the past few months it highlights the lack of consistency from other teams they are still in the position they are in.
The Blues have a really difficult run-in and face tough away trips to Fulham, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, whilst they host the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The race for the Champions League feels like one of the tightest in Premier League history with just six points covering fourth and ninth.

Having been out of the Champions League for two seasons the Blues really need to return to the competition for both football and financial reasons.
However, Carragher, who’s previously said it would be a disaster if Chelsea missed out feels the Blues will do just that.
“Looking at the fixtures and Newcastle having a game in hand, I think Nottingham Forest will just do it, I think Chelsea will miss out as they have the toughest fixtures,” Carragher told Sky Sports Monday Night Football as quoted by Mail Sport.

“Newcastle will make it and I think Man City will just make it as well. Those last four fixtures, you would expect Man City to win all four, even with the troubles they have had this season. I think Aston Villa will just miss out.”
John Obi Mikel has also said the Blues can’t afford to miss out and the last eight games are going to be crucial in shaping Chelsea’s future for next season and could have an impact on their transfer activity.
