The Canada international seemingly has no intention of signing a new contract with his current club Lille, and he’s been linked strongly with Premier League clubs.
Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing David, while there has also been mention of interest from others such as Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham.
Still, it seems the player himself has expressed a clear preference for playing in La Liga next, so that looks like a blow for his suitors from the English top flight.

Speaking on The Overlap recently, David said: “I think I can adapt to every league. Every league has its differences. The Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all of the other leagues.
“For me, I grew up watching a lot of La Liga and for me, that would be my preferred league. That is the league that I enjoyed watching the most so one day I would like to play there.”
One imagines David will have interest from all over Europe, so it will be interesting to see if any Spanish clubs respond to this strong hint from the 25-year-old.
David could have been a fine signing for the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal on a free, though those two have also been linked with a host of other big-name strikers.
Someone like West Ham, though, might struggle to find a better bargain out there this summer.
The Hammers urgently need to bring in an upgrade on Niclas Fullkrug, and this would have been a terrific opportunity.
We’ll have to see if David can be persuaded to consider the Premier League, and perhaps the offer of life in London could also end up working in West Ham’s favour in the transfer market.
