Leeds United lead the way at the top of the Championship table.
Ian Darke is expecting a busy summer of transfer activity from Leeds United if promoted to the Premier League.
The Whites are in a comfortable position at the top of the Championship table as we approach the run-in.
Daniel Farke’s side lead Sheffield United, with their 3-1 win over the Blades last Monday, in what was a result that acted as a major step closer to the Premier League for Leeds.
The Yorkshire outfit are seeking a return to the top flight at the second attempt, having missed out narrowly last year with a play-off final defeat to Southampton.
Darke has claimed that Leeds could be very busy this summer in preparation for life back in the Premier League, should they be promoted.
The commentator believes that parts of the squad just aren’t good enough to compete at that level, and will need to be replaced.
“It may be that Leeds United will look for a lot of new players should they get promoted,” said Darke, via MOT Leeds News.
“They lost a few and as I’ve said before, Leeds and Farke will want upgrades.
“There are players in that squad who are very good in the Championship but might not cut it or haven’t cut it in the past in the Premier League.”
The win over Sheffield United was Leeds’ fifth league victory in a row, a run that has been crucial in establishing the club at the top of the Championship table.
The win over Sheffield United handed Leeds a crucial three points, helping them establish themselves a the leading fancy in the race for automatic promotion.
The Whites finished third in the table last year, finishing six points behind second-place Ipswich Town.
But they are now hoping to go one better and earn a second promotion since 2020, with the club looking to re-establish themselves in the Premier League.
Wins over rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United have strengthened their position in the standings even further, and with a host of upcoming fixtures that would appear favourable on paper, Farke's side could secure their place in the top flight very soon.
The balance promoted clubs want to strike is to improve the team while remaining loyal to those who helped get them into the Premier League in the first place.
Farke will feel good about the general level of quality his squad possesses, but incomings will be needed to ensure they can compete at that level.
The German coach twice gained Premier League promotion with Norwich City, and a lack of signings both times hurt them, leading to relegation on the first occasion and a dismissal on the second.
