Ibrahimovic Talks Up Gimenez and Explains Their Moves

Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke to the press during the introduction of Santiago Gimenez, taking stock of the season and their January strategy (via Goal).

“We have had peaks and valleys, but we’re the only team that has already won a trophy. I think we lacked continuity. We weren’t satisfied and tried to bring in something new. We shored up the squad. Then, we’ll see whether we reduced the gap with other sides. But I think we got better.”

Ibrahimovic recounted a busy deadline day.

“It was very intense but we were always under control. We parted ways with five players and inserted as many. We’re happy. This roster will change our fortunes. The most stressful signing was Riccardo Sottil with just one minute and a half to go.”

Ibrahimovic spilled the beans on Ismael Bennacer.

“He asked for a new experience. He was very important here, then he was unlucky with the injuries. I believe that, if a player has a different idea, he shouldn’t be here. It means that he has already left. We helped find the best solution.”

Ibrahimovic addressed the fans and commented on Santiago Gimenez.

“We won the last Scudetto thanks to them. Many thought we weren’t even a top-four team. We can double our strength with their support. We tracked him extensively, but we couldn’t sign him last summer. He has quality in the box and can help us with his goals and assists. He’s here to bring results. We hope he’ll leave a good memory of him. He’ll score against Feyenoord in Rotterdam, and we’ll win.”
