Coventry City find themselves in the relegation zone after eleven games, and questions are beginning to be asked about Mark Robins' future at the club.

The Sky Blues boss has been highly successful at the club. The former Manchester United midfielder has taken Cov from the depth of League Two to the Championship, and was on the brink of Premier League football and an FA Cup final in the space of seven years.

Now, when you read this you think it's a no-brainer to keep Robins, but many Coventry fans would say otherwise, with the Sky Blues sitting 22nd in the Championship and with four wins in their last 20 Championship games.

It's a tricky proposition for both the board and the fans who have had some of the best times of their lives being a Coventry supporter under Robins, but you can't discount this dreadful spell of form.

"I'm on the fence" - Coventry City issue regarding Mark Robins' future

FLW's Coventry City fan pundit, Ryan Murphy, understands both sides of the argument, and is divided like many of Cov's fanbase.

Ryan said: "Very tricky question. If you go on form, form on the back end of last season and form so far this season, no one can have an argument about him losing his job.

"Managers have gone before at other clubs for the same situation. However, if you look back at what he has done for the club, we went all the way down to League Two, and we won the EFL Trophy. It's not a big trophy, but winning that was the turning point.

"You could see the potential in Robins and where the club could get to once more. We sold out Wembley and everyone needed positives, especially the younger generation who saw nothing of the Premier League years. They've just seen depressing times.

"We kicked on from there, being promoted, then winning League One, then a penalty away against Luton Town to retain the Premier League status after so long, which was heartbreaking, but for Robins to get us from that position in League Two to that, he has credit in the bank.

"But, he lost his right-hand man in pre-season (Adi Viveash), and with the new coaches that have come in, it seems Adi was one of the main people behind our success.

"It's gone poor since he's left. I'd never be 'Robins out' I'd never sack him for what he's given us. People a few months ago were saying to build him a statue, and he's gained that legendary status. Now, people are calling for his head.

"I would never say for him to be sacked, but if it happened, you couldn't argue with the club. I'm on the fence with this one.

"I'll never call for him to go. I hope he can turn this around, and we have to win on Saturday against Luton. If we don't, he is in massive trouble."

Robins deserves his chance, but time is running out

You can't argue that what Robins has done for Coventry is remarkable. He has turned them into a play-off fighting team in recent years, and has built a strong squad for this level.

The issue now is, he's set the standard, and he is failing miserably to achieve it.

Coventry's form has been nothing but shocking in the last six months, and it doesn't back up Robins' case to stay.

The encounter versus Luton is massive in deciding Robins' future, and something needs to change fast if he is to put it right.

Robins' side have tricky away fixtures versus the likes of Middlesbrough and Sunderland coming up, so it would be the best opportunity to raise morale at the club with a win versus Luton, and with his experience at the club, you can't doubt he could do it.

However, defeat on Saturday puts the Coventry boss in very deep waters, and may leave the board with no choice.
