Igli Tare has admitted that it would be an honour to work for AC Milan, amid reports linking him with the sporting director role.
Tare is one of many names that has been touted as the potential next sporting director for Milan. Widespread reports at the end of April revealed a meeting took place with CEO Giorgio Furlani, but from there news has gone quiet regarding the idea.
Given that the former Lazio man is out of work and could join immediately to begin planning for next season, it gives the feeling that Milan are perhaps looking for someone else. Several sources have suggested that Tony D’Amico of Atalanta is who they really want, with Tare kept waiting.
In an interview with the Milanese edition of La Stampa, Tare spoke mainly about politics and his Albania, which recently joined the European Union. However, he was also asked about the idea of joining Milan.
“Well, Milan is a goal for everyone. Working for a historic and renowned club like this would be an honour,” he said (via MilanNews).
“I have always tried to represent my country, and at the same time to be an example for many Italians, I am half Italian, I have worked here for half my life, I have an Italian passport and I wear it with pride. I am very grateful to you.”
