Since the 2023-24 season, Lamine Yamal has made a giant leap in his career, and at 17 years of age, he is already a regular starter for FC Barcelona. He made the right wing his own under Xavi Hernandez, but with Hansi Flick’s appointment, his importance in the team has only further increased.
This importance is clear from the fact that the two defeats that Barcelona have faced this season in La Liga, against Osasuna and Real Sociedad were the games in which Yamal did not start. Against Osasuna, he was rested and got on the pitch in the last phase of the game, but still scored a consolation goal for his side.
However, he was unable to participate even for a single minute in the game against Real Sociedad, as he suffered a problem with his right ankle right before the start of the game. After the game, there was significant concern among Barcelona fans about his situation as Flick told the press that he was uncertain when Yamal would return to action.
Now, Diario AS has provided an update on his recovery from this injury and claims that the youngster is aiming to return to the pitch for the upcoming league match against Celta de Vigo.
Yamal’s recovery is going in the right direction, and he no longer feels pain while playing with a protective bandage on the affected area. However, he still feels the pain when the bandage is not in place, and he will be tested in training only in the coming few days.
For now, he will be given a roadmap to get the medical clearance to travel with the rest of the team to Balaidos for the upcoming match. The winger might make an appearance from the bench in this game, but will not play more than 20-25 minutes.
Other injured players like Robert Lewandowski, Hector Fort, and Eric Garcia are all in better shape than the Spanish winger and will be fully available for the Celta match. Ferran Torres, however, will still have to wait for some more days before he can return to action.
