Before the Leagues Cup rounds of 32, Inter Miami officially announced the departure of their first homegrown player to score a goal in the MLS. Shanyder Borgelin signed with Vendsyssel FF from the Danish first division. As part of the transfer, Inter Miami will retain a percentage for any future sale.

Borgelin had limited playing time at Inter Miami, with only 133 minutes spread across six games this season. During his two years at the club, he scored two goals in 19 matches and played 412 minutes between 2023 and 2024. His lack of playing time is associated with the competition in his position, with players like Luis Suarez and Campana ahead of him.

Is this the best choice for Borgelin?

Knowing he is behind top-class strikers, this was a wise choice from the young player. Going overseas to look for playing time and more action on the field is never a downside. Every player who isn't getting minutes in his squad looks for another club where he can take his game and have more playing time. The Danish league has the perfect scenario for young footballers to exploit their full potential.

He made a wise decision by traveling to Europe. Not only is Vendsyssel FF a top club in Denmark, but the season is just beginning in the country, which is something positive for Borgelin. He could make a crucial impact by showing what he learned with Martino and using it in his favor to stand out.

Another positive aspect of his decision is that this could lead to more call-ups from Haiti's national team. The 21-year-old striker has five appearances with his country's football team.

Chris Henderson, Sporting Director for Inter Miami, thanked Borgelin for his time in the team with the following statement:

"We would like to thank Shanyder for his contributions to the Club on and off the pitch, and wish him the best in his next step in Denmark. We’re proud to have contributed to his development through his path with Inter Miami CF II through to the First Team, and look forward to seeing him continue excelling and representing South Florida in this next stage of his career abroad,"- Chris
