Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi says that he has a “great relationship” with Davide Frattesi despite the transfer rumours.
Inzaghi spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after today’s Serie A win over Lecce. He proclaimed that Frattesi had been Inter’s “secret” last season.
All this month, the transfer rumours have swirled around Frattesi.
Reportedly, the 25-year-old has grown discontent with his lack of playing time at Inter.
Therefore, rumours suggest, Frattesi has pushed for a move to a new club.
Reportedly, Roma are very keen on signing the former Sassuolo midfielder. And Frattesi, for his part, would welcome a return to his boyhood club the Giallorossi, according to rumours.
Inter, on the other hand, are in no hurry to sell Davide Frattesi in January.
And if the Nerazzurri were to consider allowing the Italian international to leave it would have to be for a very high fee.
But despite all the rumours, Frattesi has remained a part of Inter coach Inzaghi’s plans – even if not always in the starting eleven.
The coach did give the 25-year-old the nod in the lineup against Lecce this evening, though.

And Davide Frattesi emphatically repaid his coach’s faith. He scored a goal and won a penalty to help Inter to a 4-0 victory.
Inzaghi said that Frattesi “knows” what he can contribute. “We’ve talked about it,” he said.
“Last season he was our secret,” the Nerazzurri coach continued. “Along with other guys like Carlos Augusto and Asllani who made the difference for us winning the second star.”
“They made sure that when anyone was out, we didn’t miss them.”
“We have a great group,” Inzaghi beamed. “And now we have to keep going like this.”
Inzaghi said that he has “a great relationship with Davide [Frattesi].”
“He was crucial for us last season. And he earned his way into a starting place at the Euros.”
Inzaghi noted that Frattesi “has been dealing with a bit of a physical problem for about twenty days.”
“But he’s worked hard to get over it. When he came off the bench on Wednesday he did well, and today he had a great match.”
Of this evening’s win over Lecce, Inzaghi declared that “we approached the match well.”
“It wasn’t easy,” he went on. “We got back from Prague, and we had to make another away trip just two days later.”
“But we were well-organized. The guys did what I asked them to.”
Inzaghi noted that “Lecce tried to press us in our half of the pitch, but we did well technically.”
“We also had two goals disallowed for offsides by a matter of centimetres, as we had in Prague.”
“We have to keep going like this,” Inzaghi added. “The guys deserve credit.”
“We’ve been playing three matches a week for five months. But we have to work hard, because this is how it always is.”
And of the title race with Napoli, Inzaghi said that “They and Atalanta are doing extraordinary things, like Inter.”
“I said in July that it will be an open title race,” the Inter coach noted. “And so it’s proving.”
