Sandro Mazzola feels that Inter Milan “deserve to win the Champions League.”
The legendary former Nerazzurri striker spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews. He also called Simone Inzaghi a “brilliant strategist.”
For the second time in just three seasons, Inter Milan are in the final of the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri have knocked out the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona along the way.
Inter will take on Paris Saint-Germain in Munich at the end of this month.
And it is a big opportunity for the Nerazzurri to avenge the heartbreak of losing to Manchester City in the final of the 2022-23 season.
That match saw Inter play English juggernauts City more or less even.
However, it was a 0-1 loss for Inter on that occasion.
This time, Inter will be keen to prove that they are not just deserving finalists. Against PSG, certainly one of the outstanding teams in the competition, they’ll aim to go all the way.

In the final, legendary former Inter Milan striker Sandro Mazzola said that “I hope they win with all my heart.”
“That would bring great joy to this old man,” he joked,
“But they all deserve it. They’ve been great.”
“They’ve faced this competition with the spirit of a great team,” Mazzola added.
The former striker noted that “the whole world was talking about the feat of the defenders to stop Barcelona and Bayern Munich.”
“And by our great strikers, Lautaro and Thuram. What a duo,”
“And about how much they run for their teammates,” Mazzola said.
Meanwhile, Mazzola argued that “everyone appreciates” Simone Inzaghi. “Deservedly so.”
“Reaching two Champions League finals is not something you do every day.”
“Which other coaches have gotten similar results?” former striker Mazzola asled. “Simone is a great guy, and a great strategist.”
“He knows when to play a defensive game, like against Barcelona. And when to attack.”
“And then his players are like kids,” Mazzola added. “They love him, they’d do anything for him.”
