Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta says that midfielder Davide Frattesi hasn’t handed in a transfer request despite recent rumours.
The Nerazzurri President addressed the 25-year-old’s situation while speaking to DAZN ahead of today’s Serie A match against Venezia, via FCInterNews. He also promised there will be “no revolutions” in the summer.
In recent days, the future of Frattesi has been the subject of a lot of speculation.
Reportedly, the Italian international is unhappy with his lack of playing time at Inter.
There have even been reports that Frattesi has asked the club to leave. Possibly as early as during the January transfer window.
Roma have been the club most strongly linked with a potential move for Frattesi. However, they aren’t the only ones, with Napoli also among the 25-year-old’s suitors.
However, Inter President Marotta has poured some cold water on these rumours.
The Nerazzurri President flatly replied “Absolutely not,” when asked whether Frattesi has handed in his transfer request.
“Frattesi is a standup young guy,” Marotta said. “And a total professional.”
“He absolutely didn’t ask for a transfer.”
“Then, clearly, in the transfer market we can receive offers,” the Inter President continued. “We don’t want to sell anyone, but if the player tells us he wants a change we’ll try to listen.”
“But right now there is no reason to think that Frattesi wants to join a different team,” Marotta insisted.
Meanwhile, Marotta spoke about having to bounce back from a loss to AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italia final.
“This is a mature team,” he said. “That unfortunately can’t always win.”
“They lost, and it happened to be in an important match. But we know that today is just as important.”
“We have a squad of professionals who are ready to switch their focus to this,” Marotta said.
And of the prospect of changes during next summer transfer window, the Inter President said that “I can say both [Sporting DIrector Piero] Ausilio and [Assistant Sporting Director Dario] Baccin have been looking around from day one.”
“They’re looking for players who could be right for us.”
“There will be changes,” Marotta said of next summer window. “But there won’t be a revolution.”
“We’ll make small changes. Because we already have a competitive squad of serious people and professionals.”
“Clearly, we still have to keep an eye on the market,” the Nerazzurri President said. “Opportunities have to be exploited if they come up and they meet the needs of the club.”
“But that’s just the normal running of the club,” Marotta said.
