Inter vs. Roma tomorrow: the countdown to the game

Inter Milan
·24 April 2025
Inter will be back in action on Sunday at 15:00 CEST for the game against Roma, on Serie A Matchday 34. The match, which was initially scheduled for Saturday 26 at 18:00 CEST, will be played on Sunday following the CONI President's decision to suspend all sporting events on Saturday 26 April 2025, to pay respects to Pope Francis' funeral.
Inter will go into the game against Roma at the top of the table, level on points with Napoli on 71. Inzaghi's side have three wins, one draw and one loss in their last five league games. The loss came against Bologna on Easter Sunday. The match against Roma will mark the beginning of the end of the season rush as Inter will play the Giallorossi before flying to Barcelona for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, scheduled for Wednesday 30 April. The Nerazzurri will then play two games at San Siro: Saturday 3 May at 20:45 CEST against Hellas Verona before the second leg against Barcelona on Tuesday 6 May at 21:00 CEST.
In the coming weeks, Serie A will announce the dates and times of our last three league games: Torino (away), Lazio (home) and Como (away) .
After a difficult start of the season, Roma are now seventh in the table. Ranieri's team are 17 games without defeat: their last defeat dates back to December against Como. Since then, the Giallorossi have continued their pursuit for European football and they now have 57 points, only three off of fourth place. After back-to-back draws, Roma beat Verona 1-0 in their last league game. Their best scorer in Serie A is Artem Dovbyx, who has 11 goals so far this season. The player who secured all three points in their last league game was Shomurodov, who has been decisive in the last few games, particularly after the injury that has ruled out Paulo Dybala. Ranieri tends to opt for a 3-4-2-1, with Pellegrini and Soulé supporting Dovbik.
There have been a total of 183 Serie A encounters between Roma and Inter: the record favors the Nerazzurri, with 79 wins compared to Roma’s 50 – the remaining 54 matches ended in draws. Inter are unbeaten in 14 of their last 15 league meetings with Roma (8 wins, 6 draws), winning seven of the last eight (1 loss) – Roma’s only victory in that stretch came on October 1, 2022, a 2-1 comeback win at San Siro with goals from Dybala and Smalling. Roma are the team Inter have beaten the most times in their Serie A history: 79 victories. Inter are also the team against which Roma have scored the most goals in Serie A (232), but also the one they’ve conceded the most against (299); the Nerazzurri could become the first side to score 300 goals against a single opponent in the competition. More broadly, Inter vs Roma is the highest-scoring fixture in Serie A history: 531 goals in 183 matches, an average of 2.9 goals per game.
Player Focus
Since his return to Inter in the 2021/22 season, Federico Dimarco has provided the most assists among defenders in Serie A (18, including 7 this season — a personal record for a single campaign). The 1997-born full-back has been involved in four goals in his last five league appearances (one goal and three assists).
Lautaro Martínez has been involved in three goals in his last six Serie A matches against Roma (two goals and one assist), after having not contributed to a single goal in his first six appearances against them.
Marcus Thuram, who has scored in two of his three Serie A matches against Roma, has recorded a 9.1% conversion rate in the 2025 league campaign — a significant drop from the 29% he had earlier in the season.
Thuram has netted 14 goals so far this season: no French player has ever scored more goals in a single Serie A campaign for Inter — he has currently equalled Youri Djorkaeff’s tally of 14 from the 1996/97 season.
Hakan Çalhanoglu has delivered the pass leading to the shot in eight of Inter’s last 10 shots in Serie A (across the matches against Cagliari and Bologna). The Turkish midfielder has been involved in four goals (one goal and three assists) against Roma in Serie A with Inter, although none in his last five appearances against the Giallorossi.
Francesco Acerbi has scored two Serie A goals against Roma, both at the Stadio Olimpico (the most recent coming in last season’s away fixture). The Inter defender has just reached 400 appearances in Serie A.
Marko Arnautovic has scored four goals from just nine shots in the current Serie A season, boasting a remarkable 44% conversion rate — the highest among players with at least as many shots across Europe’s top five leagues. The Inter striker is just one goal shy of matching his total from the entire 2023/24 Serie A season (five goals in 27 matches).
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – suspended for this fixture – spent three seasons at Roma from 2019 to 2022, making 87 Serie A appearances. Over the last 20 seasons (since 2004/05), he is one of only two Roma midfielders (alongside Miralem Pjanić) to score at least five goals and provide at least five assists in three different Serie A campaigns.
Nicola Zalewski has made 84 Serie A appearances (scoring twice) for Roma between 2021 and 2025.4
Inter will face Roma without Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan: their bookings against Bologna means that both will be unavailable for this game. Roma have no suspended players.
