Matilda Vinberg registered an assist for Sweden as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wales in the second game of their UEFA Nations League campaign on Tuesday night.
The winger earned just her third start for her nation and made a strong impression in the opening quarter-of-an-hour at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground as she provided the assist for Filippa Angeldal’s opener before Wales found an equaliser from the penalty spot with 14 minutes remaining in the contest
The 21-year-old went on to complete just over an hour and her impressive performance saw her voted Player of the Match.
Defender Amanda Nilden also started and completed 82 minutes on the night for Sweden, while Josefine Rybrink was an unused substitute.
Elsewhere in the Nations League, Luana Buhler once again played the full game for Switzerland as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in Norway.
Anna Csiki’s Hungary and Olga Ahtinen’s Finland faced off in Group Three of League B. Anna started for her country and completed 78 minutes, while Olga came off the bench with 14 minutes remaining as Eva Nystrom’s early spot-kick earned Finland the three points.
Martha Thomas was a second half substitute for Scotland, playing just over 20 minutes at Hampden Park, as the Netherlands came from behind to secure a 2-1 win. Goalkeeper Lize Kop was an unused substitute for the Leeuwinnen.
In the younger age groups, Ella Morris started and played just under an hour for England Under-23s as Isobel Goodwin’s first half strike saw them run out 1-0 winners over France at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium. Lenna Gunning-Williams was an unused substitute for Emma Coates’ side.
