Facing a goalkeeper crisis, the League One side have brought in Celtic B’s Marcus Gill on a temporary deal to bolster their squad ahead of the closing weeks of the season.
Inverness were forced to urgently seek a new goalkeeper after an injury to first-choice Musa Dibaga during their 2-0 defeat against Kelty Hearts on Saturday. Gill has arrived and may feature in goal for Inverness this weekend against Stenhousemuir.
Earlier in the season, Inverness brought in Celtic’s Aiden Rice on an emergency loan, with the keeper stepping in against Alloa while Dibaga was away on international duty with Gambia.

The young Celtic prospect has played in the Lowland League for Celtic B this season and has also taken part in the UEFA Youth League. An Inverness Caley Thistle statement reads:
“Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Marcus Gill on emergency loan from Celtic FC. Following a hamstring injury sustained against Kelty Hearts, Musa Dibaga will be unavailable for this weekend’s match against Stenhousemuir FC.” Marcus, 17 years-old, has played for Celtic B in the Lowland League and has also featured in the UEFA Youth League this season. Marcus has also represented Ireland at Under 19s level. The club would like to thank Chris McCart, Colin Meldrum and Celtic FC for their assistance with this matter.”

The Highlanders are eighth in the league with three games remaining. Sitting three points and a significantly better off goal difference above Annan who are in ninth, Gill could play a huge role in Inverness’ survival.
Ravaged by financial trouble which saw the club hit with a 15-point deduction earlier this season, Scott Kellacher has managed to steer his side well clear of automatic relegation. As they gear up to face two of the top three in League One over the next few weeks, good luck to Marcus and Inverness.
Both Inverness Caley Thistle and Dumbarton this week both announced that they were successfully coming out of administration thus ensuring their history. Their supporters simply would not allow their clubs to die. Great that Celtic are lending a helping hand when required to yet again step in to help as a goalkeeping crisis re-emerges in the Highlands.
