Simone Inzaghi has been praised for making the decisive substitutions that powered Inter Milan to a 3-2 comeback win over Monza.

It would be fair to say that Inter Milan’s starting eleven was not quite working out against Monza yesterday.
The Brianzoli scored twice in the first half. Both goals came from counterattacks, as Inter struggled to contain the pace of their attacking players in space.
Particularly culpable in this respect were Stefan de Vrij and Benjamin Pavard.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi reacted at halftime yesterday.
The Nerazzurri coach completely changed up his back three. De Vrij and Pavard came off, with Carlos Augusto and Yann Bisseck replacing them.

That meant that Alessandro Bastoni moved from wingback to the left of the back three. Francesco Acerbi moved to the centre, and Yann Bisseck replaced Pavard on the right.
And this move gave Inter’s back three a lot more mobility and bite.
Bisseck in particular was able to win the ball back aggressively and help Inter push up the pitch.
That was crucial as the Nerazzurri really piled on the pressure. They did so while also containing the threat Monza had on the counter.
