Ipswich sealing a return to the Premier League was a big moment last summer, but it looks like their stay will be short-lived. The Tractor Boys are 12 points from safety with seven games left to play, while also trailing 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers significantly on goal difference. It was a home defeat to Wolves that opened up the 12-point gap, after Ipswich had recorded their first league win of 2025 against Bournemouth — in their first game of April.

The gap is now 14 points, although it’s now behind West Ham, and whilst Ipswich can’t be mathematically relegated this weekend a loss would all but seal their fate. With just one win, and four points in total, in their last four games, things are looking pretty grim for the Tractor Boys.

Depending on whether the glass is half full or empty, Arsenal are either in or out of a title race. After 32 games, the Gunners are 13 points behind Liverpool, having gone on a run of three draws in five games — albeit winning the other two. While Arsenal won’t give up until it is over, the Gunners will also be looking to secure wins to ensure they don’t drop out of the top four. That does look unlikely, with Arsenal nine points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea. But they’ll want to be certain.

One thing that Arsenal do have going for them is their Champions League run. They are now in the semi-final, having beaten Real Madrid 5-1 over two legs. They now face PSG but have a couple of weeks before that tie, giving them full focus on the game with Ipswich and trying to keep themselves in the title race.

Chiedozie Ogbene and Wes Burns are out for the season, while Sam Szmodics isn’t expected to return until the final weeks of the campaign. Arijanet Muric will also be a doubt.

Arsenal will hope to have Riccardo Calafiori available by the time this game comes around, but he will continue to be assessed. Gabriel, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all out for the season.
