Nottingham Forest won the reverse fixture 1-0 and dumped Ipswich out of the FA Cup on penalties just 12 days ago, but have won only one of their last seven visits to Portman Road.
Can Nottingham Forest move three points closer to Champions League qualification? Last weekend, the Garibaldi Reds took a gigantic step towards securing a top five finish by beating Manchester City at the City Ground, with Callum Hudson-Odoi's late winner sparking wild celebrations. A word for Morgan Gibbs-White's assist too, which was simply majestic.
Prior to this, Nuno Espírito Santo's side had collected just a solitary point from three league fixtures, leading to many suggesting Forest's Champions League charge had run out of steam. Nevertheless, this victory means they remain third, two points above Chelsea and four above both Man City and Newcastle. Thus, with ten games to go, Nottingham Forest's dreams of returning to Europe's premier club competition for the first time since 1980 are very much on, so will they win again here?
In complete contrast, Ipswich Town are in desperate need of points as they seek to avoid an instantaneous return to the Championship. The Tractor Boys' wait for a first league win of 2025 goes on, beaten 1-0 at Crystal Palace last Saturday, the only goal of the afternoon coming eight minutes from time. Thus, despite being competitive in every game they play, Kieran McKenna's team have collected just two points from their last nine fixtures, so are now six points from safety.
To give the Blues some hope, they did hold Forest to a 1-1 draw on the banks of the River Trent in the FA Cup less than a fortnight ago, George Hirst heading home a corner, before being ousted on penalties; Jack Taylor the only man to miss from 12 yards. This time in Suffolk, can Ipswich reignite their survival hopes with three precious points?
Sammie Szmodics, Conor Chaplin, Chiedozie Ogbene and Wes Burns all remain sidelined but, having been fit enough to come off the bench at Selhurst, star man Omari Hutchinson is expected to start this time.
Meantime, in Axel Tuanzebe's absence, either Dara O'Shea or Ben Johnson will get the nod at right-back. Lastly, striker Liam Delap is one booking away from a two-match ban, something they can ill-afford.
Ipswich Town predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest: (4-2-3-1): Palmer; Johnson, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis; Cajuste, Phillips, Philogene, Hutchinson, Clarke; Delap.
With Christian Walton injured and Arijanet Muriç, at best, unconvincing, January signing Alex Palmer will start a seventh successive match in goal, so will he continue to impress?
Following last weekend's win, Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to name an unchanged lineup. The only real decision he has to make comes in midfield, where Nicolás Domínguez partnered Elliot Anderson against Man City, but Danilo, Ibrahim Sangaré and Ryan Yates are all more than viable alternatives.
Nottingham Forest predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-3-3): Sels; Aina, Milenković, Murillo, Williams; Domínguez, Anderson, Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White; Elanga, Wood.
Chris Wood has 18 Premier League goals to his name this season, while he's previously netted against Ipswich for three different clubs, most-recently the only scorer in the reverse fixture.
We are backing Forest to depart Suffolk with three invaluable points, with the visitors likely to be simply too strong for the Tractor Boys on Saturday: Ipswich Town 0-2 Nottingham Forest.
