Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been defended by Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen over criticism surrounding his personal affairs and travel arrangements.

The 24-year-old Norway international is often at the centre of the headlines within the game for his ridiculous goalscoring form, and that has certainly not changed this season with 11 goals across competitions so far.

However, his use of private flights in and out of Manchester has seemingly caught the attention of some critics in various quarters, with Haaland often jetting to the likes of Oslo, Malaga, and into Europe.

Given the levels of fame of the Manchester City striker, boasting a staggering social media following to show, it is hardly surprising that Haaland would want to take a more private route to locations as opposed to commercial flights.

And that is the feeling shared by one of his international teammates this week speaking during an interview with Dagbladet, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, with Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen coming to the defence of Erling Haaland after criticism.

“To many, it sounds completely sick. But you can’t live a life where you can’t go anywhere freely. You have to deal with it yourself. Erling (Haaland) needs all the time he can to relax,” the Wolves forward said.

“I really enjoy that (going for coffee in Wolverhampton). But my goal must be to become so good that I have to have it (private flights) too. I have a very good time at airports,” he continued.

Erling Haaland is currently away on international duty with Norway, having emerged from the last round of national team duties unscathed whilst Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard sustained a problematic ankle injury.

Haaland is understood to have taken a private jet back to Norway before reporting to duty alongside his Norway teammates, in a move that is likely to have sparked criticism by some after using the same mode of transport several times last month.

Manchester City will be hoping to welcome back Erling Haaland injury-free when Norway conclude their two UEFA Nations League meetings, with a hectic schedule looming over the opening weeks of the winter period.
