Riccardo Calafiori will report for medical tests within the next few hours after he limped home from Italy’s 2-1 loss against Germany in the Nations League quarter-final on Thursday night.
Calafiori saw out the full 90 minutes against Germany, but slipped awkwardly on the San Siro turf towards the end of proceedings, practically ending up doing the splits. He required on-pitch treatment from the Azzurri medical staff and was later seen limping on his way out of the ground.
“I don’t know guys, I don’t know,” he muttered while walking past journalists in the mixed zone in San Siro on Thursday night, moving with a bit of visible discomfort.
There are unofficial concerns that the Arsenal defender may have damaged his knee during the incident at the end of the Germany loss, which would be particularly worrying given that Calafiori suffered a career-threatening injury to that same knee while he was in the youth ranks with Roma.

The extent of the damage is set to become more clear in the next few hours, when Calafiori goes in for medical tests with the Italy national team, confirmed by Sky Sport Italia.
The former Bologna centre-back has not left the Italy national team set-up, and will be seen to by national team doctors initially, rather than those from his domestic club.
