Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella will be fit for his team’s Serie A clash with Roma after the international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also note that the 27-year-old has clearly rejected interest from Manchester City.

Barella has missed Inter’s last three matches due to injury.

The former Cagliari midfielder had picked up a thigh strain in the derby against AC Milan last month. He had to come off as a substitute during the second half.

Inter managed to win their matches against Udinese, Red Star Belgrade, and Torino in Barella’s absence.

Without Barella available, Davide Frattesi got an opportunity in the starting eleven.

However, having Barella back is certainly key for Inter.

The Italian international remains a vital player for the Nerazzurri, putting it mildly.

The target for Barella has always looked to be to return after the international break.

Inter’s first match back after the break will be away to Roma.

And according to the Gazzetta, there is no doubt that Barella will be available for that match.

The 27-year-old has naturally not rushed back to fitness. However, the international break has handed him a good opportunity to take his time and work his way back.

Barella has not quite made a full return to training yet. He continues to work individually to put the finishing touches on his recovery.

But over the next week or so Barella will be able to return to his best. Therefore, he can return to the starting eleven against the Giallorossi.

And in the meantime, the Gazzetta note that Barella has been the subject of a bit of transfer interest.

Manchester City are in search of a possible midfield solution after losing linchpin Rodri for the season with an ACL injury.

And Barella would be one high-profile solution.

There have not been any offers for Barella. But the Premier League giants have not hidden their admiration.

But according to the Gazzetta, Barella has made equally clear that he won’t leave Inter any time soon.
