‘It’s not just about enjoying’… Hansi Flick advices Barcelona star on how to continue growing after his spectacular season | OneFootball

Hansi Flick has just completed a very successful first season with FC Barcelona, in which he won the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup titles, while also making the Blaugrana team one of the most feared in Europe.

This element of fear was brought the team to a large extent by the performances of its forward line of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal, all of who had a very good season.

Lamine Yamal continues to amaze

Yamal’s performances were particularly amazing, as he took on the very best defences in Europe and Spain and came out the better, despite still being only 17 years of age.

This last phase of the 2024-25 season dispelled any lingering doubts about the youngster’s status as one of the best players in the world, and keeping in view his age, he is expected to only get better going forward.

Hansi Flick offers advice to the youngster

In this regard, his coach, Hansi Flick, had some very clear advice for him as the German manager appeared in an interview with Barca One which has been covered by Mundo Deportivo.

The Barcelona coach praised the winger and highlighted some changes that he will have to make in his mentality to continue growing:

“Lamine is a genius and he’s only 17 years old. I think we have to help him. I hope he wants that too, that we can take care of him, because he’s young and right now it seems like everything is easy. And it might seem easy, but it’s not.”

“If you want to play at the highest level for the next 15 years, you have to train very well and also be mentally at the highest level — that’s what matters. Lamine is smart, he’s intelligent, and it’s not just about enjoying everything. You also have to work and work, because players with this kind of talent have to do that too.”

There is no doubt that this is some very sound advice from Hansi Flick to Lamine Yamal. Hopefully, the youngster will heed these words carefully, and continue to work hard and enjoy going forward to ensure he remains one of the most celebrated attackers in Europe going forward.
