Norwich City should secure these 2 shrewd transfers this summer
Norwich City will be looking to land a Championship top-six spot for the second consecutive season following last campaign's play-off heartache while new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup will hope to go one better than his predecessor David Wagner.
Thorup has already made a solid start to the transfer window at his new club with the addition of Panama international defender Jose Cordoba and will be striving to make more signings as he tries to shape his squad at Carrow Road.
The Canaries boss will also be hoping to complete smart business this summer and the additions of these two shrewd signings could bolster his side's play-off credentials.
Scottish Premiership giants Celtic are keen to sign Canaries forward Adam Idah, as per Glasgow World, after the forward enjoyed a successful loan spell with Brendan Rogers' side last season.
Furthermore, fellow striker Josh Sargent is injury prone, despite being so clinical in front of goal, as demonstrated last season, while Premier League side Wolves have previously expressed an interest in his services, according to GiveMeSport.
Should the Republic of Ireland international leave Norfolk permanently, Thorup will be in need of a replacement, and Stevenage's Jamie Reid could be an ideal candidate.
The 29-year-old seamlessly bridged the gap between League Two and League One, scoring 18 goals in the third tier last campaign, after previously scoring 10 goals for his side as they earned promotion in the 2022/23 season.
Reid has also performed on the international stage, scoring one goal in four appearances for Northern Ireland, and the Canaries could offer him the opportunity to test his capabilities in the Championship.
Given he has never played in the second tier, his transfer fee should not be as expensive as other potential targets.
A hard worker both in and out of possession who would arrive full of confidence, Reid could prove to be a shrewd addition to add cover and competition for Sargent next term.
Jodi Jones is another talented player from the EFL's lower tiers that the Canaries should consider making a move for after he made a ridiculous return of 24 assists in League Two, which he further complemented with six goals.
He signed for Notts County last summer on a two-year deal, so he currently has just one year left on his contract, which is a situation the Carrow Road outfit should look to capitalise on.
The former Coventry City man has tasted Championship football before, after making nine league appearances for the Sky Blues during the 2021/22 campaign, and could be keen to make a second-tier return if the Canaries put an offer on the table.
He has a clinical creative edge, which would make him a strong asset for Thorup's side, while they could be in need of his assist-making ability amid the potential departure of current star man Gabriel Sara.
The Brazilian produced a strong return of 13 goals and 12 assists in the Championship last campaign, but Premier League Crystal Palace are interested in his signature, according to BBC Sport.
Despite plying his trade in the fourth tier, it seems evident that Jones could be able to help plug this gap despite playing in a different position after making 30 goal contributions last term.
