LAFC have been one of the most active clubs so far this off-season! Two re-signings, a big free agency pick up, and a youth signing as well!!!First, LAFC have re-signed two centerbacks heading into 2025 which is so key, as Jesus Murrillo has signed with Liga MX side FC Juarez. First, LAFC have brought back Aaron Long from free agency. The 32 year old U.S. international won a U.S. Open Cup title with LAFC last season while playing almost 3,700 minutes across all competitions. The former Supporters’ Shield champion (during his New York Red Bulls era) has over 21,000 first team minutes played in his career with a majority of them split between his time at the Red Bulls and of course LAFC. The club has also brought back 29 year old Brazilian centerback Marlon after signing him last summer. Marlon also won the U.S. Open Cup with LAFC last season and made 8 appearances after coming over from Fluminense. The LAFC centerback core will seemingly be centered around these two, along with Eddie Segura who is already on the roster.
LAFC have added to their talent by signing one of the top MLS free agents in Jeremy Ebobisse. The 27 year old had 10 goals scored in 2024 for a bad San Jose Earthquakes side. Between San Jose and Portland, Ebobisse has a little over 85 career goal contributions and a MLS Is Back Tournament title to his name. It now looks like he slots in behind Olivier Giroud as the primary backup striker on the roster. This just gives LAFC another proven and high quality goal scorer to this roster.
The final addition for LAFC so far comes in the form is a youth signing from their MLS Next Pro side. The club has signed 16 year old U.S. youth international Jude Terry from LAFC II. Terry is a defensive midfielder who made his professional debut last season in MLS Next Pro. The teenager played 688 minutes across MLS Next Pro and its playoffs, recording 1 assist. In the midst of the expansion off-season for San Diego, LAFC also made the move to trade striker Tomas Angel to San Diego for $200,000 in GAM. Angel spent a lot of time on loan from LAFC in 2024.
